Voodoo Shakedown

On a hot afternoon in the city of New Orleans
A gold Eldorado coupe came passing by
The passengers looked so upscale and restless
Playing the part, having the time of their life

The only life they’re knowing
Just enough to keep on

His name was Wayne but his mother called him Justin
He loved manly conversations and his rainbow girl
Molly is hungry and acts with questionable intentions
Looking for a seat at the table in a new woman's world

When the night grows dim, under the neon lights
It’s another voodoo shakedown

Stealing the love,  playing for keeps
Under a spell,  curse of a thief
It’s another voodoo shakedown

They met the Voodoo Man of mystery outside the city
A Queen Marie spirit of love, a preacher man
He had riches and wealth without a penny in his pocket
Living his life they would never understand.

When the night grows dim, under the neon lights
It’s another voodoo shakedown

Stealing the love,  playing for keeps
Under a spell,  curse of a thief
It’s another voodoo shakedown

He claims to be the king, she claims to be his queen
They hide behind the truth cause there is no in between
They’re betting on the universe to find out what their life is worth
Totally surprised when they stepped across the line.

Hey oh, we got to go, hey oh, we got to go
Hey oh, hey oh

Under a spell,  curse of a thief
It’s another voodoo shakedown, It’s another voodoo shakedown

On and on and on they go…
